merry christmas

it was very precious to celebrate logan's first christmas. obviously he didn't know what was going on but he liked ripping the wrapping paper off the gifts and playing with his new toys.

thank you to everyone who helped make it a great first christmas for him! he made christmas so special for us and we are very blessed to have him in our lives!

snow much fun

last week dan, logan, and i went to mt. lemmon to play in the snow! after driving up the mountain we went to ski valley but it was closed and there weren't any good places to go sledding. when we went to summerhaven we found the perfect hill with lots of snow. dan and logan went sledding down the hill and logan didn't seem to mind it!

dan had a slight rollover at the bottom of the hill, but luckily logan wasn't with him. i had my try at sledding but i had a premature departure so unfortunately dan wasn't able to get any pictures.

after sledding we went to the cookie cabin and had a delicious chocolate chip cookie and some yummy hot chocolate! all in all, it was snow much fun!

holiday pictures

yesterday we made the journey to park place mall to get logan's pictures taken. the reason we went to park place mall was to go to the picture people. i don't always go to the picture people because they are kind of expensive, but i think they have better quality pictures then places like jc penny or sears, plus i had some coupons and got a good deal...if anyone knows of a semi-affordable photographer, let me know. anyway, back to the pictures, they turned out super cute. logan had his holiday outfit on, thanks grandma bonna, and he was adorable.

while we were at the mall we decided to have logan see santa since he was already dressed up. he loved santa and just wanted to look up at him and touch his beard. i know that logan has been an especially good boy and hopefully santa will get him just what he wants.

polar express

this last weekend dan, logan, and i made the trek to williams, az for the polar express. first we made a pit stop in mesa, az for cousin haley's 6th birthday party. happy birthday haley! then we made our way up to flagstaff where we drove straight to williams and met dan's family. we got a bite to eat at a mom and pop restaurant and then made our way to the train depot. logan was in his pajamas and all ready for the north pole. we boarded the train which was built in 1923 (or somewhere around there). on the train ride we had hot chocolate, cookies, and sang christmas carols as we waited for santa, just like in the book. we got to the north pole and saw santa waving from his sleigh. when santa came on the train logan gleefully took a jingle bell from him and put it straight in his mouth. what a treat!

the best invention ever

i discovered the flo at babies r us while looking at bathing accessories (however i ended up purchasing it at target because it is cheaper there.) it is the neatest device for bathing your child. it hooks onto the spout of your bathtub and not only protects your child's head from banging on the facet, it also deflects the water. it is perfect for rinsing your child's hair. logan is only 8 months old and it is so easy for him to use. i just lean him back in his baby bathtub and and rinse! it also has this cool contraption that you can fill with bubble bath and then you just push a button while the water is running and voila, bubbles! i would recommend this to everyone!

great grandma and grandpa

on saturday night logan had the unique opportunity to meet his great grandma and grandpa kimbell for the first time. i think they all enjoyed each other's company.


we were able to take a four generation picture; logan, his mom (me), his grandma, and his great grandma and grandpa. what a special treat!

kartchner caverns

last thursday and friday we went camping at kartchner caverns with noah and jeannette. we had a great time camping and the facilities were very nice. our festivities included games, s'mores, and of course, the cave tour. logan had an especially good time at about 1am when he thought it was play time! the scenery was very relaxing and the cave tour was amazing- i would recommend it to everyone. here are some pics of our trip:

halloween

logan was a lion for halloween. he seemed to like his costume pretty well but he did get all sweaty. logan was going to be a hot dog and we were going to dress up as chefs and be "the cooks" but our ward wasn't having a ward party and so we had no where to wear our costumes. since the hot dog costume had no legs and wasn't very practical i took back all our costumes and got logan this cute lion costume. to make a long story even longer, our ward decided to plan a last minute trunk or treat party, but it was too late, the hot dog costume was already returned. that's ok though, because i think that logan makes a pretty cute lion.

dan had a whole getup for handing out candy. he had his chair, logan, the dog, and the candy. he even had dinner out there while he was passing out candy.

we carved pumpkins with our friends noah and jeannette and jeannette's brother sean. i'd say that they turned out pretty frightening! they were so good that some trick or treaters thought that they were fake!

pumpkins

dan, logan, and i went to apple annie's in wilcox to pick pumpkins. the weather was nice and we all had a good time creating some good memories. we took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and handpicked the perfect pumpkin! we were able to get some fun pictures through out the day...

logan's little cheeks got sun kissed after being outside for a while. he was such a trooper!

mexico

we took our semiannual trip to r.p. mexico with dan's family and had a great time. logan didn't care too much for the ocean because the water was a little cold. however, we set up his own personal paradise in a baby pool under the awning. he loved playing and splashing in the water. he also had a great time digging in the sand! and yes, i do realize that his face is covered in snot, but hey, we were in mexico!

come to find out..

dan thought there was a gas leak in the garage yesterday so he turned off the hot water heater, hence a cold shower. apparently it was a leaky propane tank.

cold shower

after running the dishwasher and doing two loads of laundry, i got in the shower and promptly realized that there wasn't anymore hot water. as a result i still have slight stubble on my legs because shaving with goosebumps does not produce silky smoothness. ugh!

officer in training

dan and i went to eat at trh to commemorate my 27th birthday today. it just so happened to be "tip a cop" night to sponsor the special olympics. this i was grateful for because it diverted the attention away from me and i was able to avoid having to ride the saddle for my birthday. anyway, the marana police force was there posing as our waiters and waitresses. logan earned a junior officer badge that he proudly displayed on his shirt. he and dan just so happened to be dressed in similar shirts and everyone pointed out that they matched. i thought that was funny but dan not so much. there was also a female police officer that decided to babysit logan for us. she paraded him around the whole restaurant while we ate. our dinner turned out to be a pretty nice date!

1. i have to clean my house in a certain order: dust, clean the bathrooms, vacuum the floors, and then mop the floors. i cannot vacuum and then dust or mop and then clean the bathrooms, for some reason it has to be in this order.

2. i also have to bathe in a certain order: shampoo my hair, wash my body, rinse my body, rinse my hair, condition my hair, shave, wash my face, rinse my hair. again, not sure why, but it has to be in this order.

3. i have to check the mail everyday. on some days it is the highlight of my day!

4. i have recently taken to speaking in text. like brb, gtk, ootl, lol, idk, noyb, tsnf. one time i texted dan tsnf and he texted back a whole sentence with only the first letter of each word. it didn't work though because i had know idea what he was talking about!

5. i usually think i am always right (according to dan).

6. almost every time i go somewhere, i give myself a mini manicure in the car. i put on cuticle cream, lotion, and sometimes file my nails. it drives dan crazy, but i convinced him to deal with it by telling him it saves me time since i don't have to do it while i am getting ready.

7. i like straws. i have to have a straw in any drink that has ice in it. it is such a little kid thing to do, but i can't drink it without a straw.

i, like mandi, do not yet have seven blogging friends, so i will tag the friends that i do have: kristen, morgan, and emily. (i know, pathetic that i only have 3 friends.)

pacifiers

yesterday i was feeding logan and he had some toys in his high chair and also his pacifier. when we were done i took him out of his chair and i couldn't find his pacifier. i looked everywhere because it is all rubber and when it falls it can bounce long distances. well i couldn't find it and i figured it would fall into the category of missing socks.

today i went outside to put some things away in the backyard and i noticed out of the corner of my eye logan's pacifier glistening in the grass. how did it get outside you ask? one word: shiloh. every now and then he likes to swipe logan's pacifier when we're not looking. in fact we have several pacifiers that shiloh has gotten to and we keep those for home use only!

last weekend dan went camping with the scouts. as the scout master he has to go camping with the deacons once a month. on saturday they went spelunking in peppersauce and got all muddy! this is the after picture (dan is on the far left)!

vomit, there's plenty of it

i just put logan to bed and i am wondering if i want to wake up tomorrow...i have had one of those days. i awoke this morning to a migraine...not so lovely. so i let logan sleep as long as possible, i get up, eat breakfast, pop some ibuprofen, and figure i should get logan up since it is now past 9am. i feed logan, play with him, and pretend that he is sleepy and tell myself that he wants to take a nap (so that i can take a nap). but he doesn't. he cries and cries. i feed him again, rock him to sleep, and not 5 seconds after i put him down i find myself looking into the toilet vomiting. oh how i hate migraines. i take a short nap and then logan wakes up. i let him fuss a little...while i lie down to get rid of my headache. i start to feel better so i go and get logan. i am bringing him to our bed and then he decides to vomit. only he is not looking into the toilet. he vomits all over me! i am ok with that though, then i don't have to wash the sheets, again, like last night when he vomited in our bed, or clean the carpet like the night before when he vomited all over the floor (actually, dan cleaned the carpet, it is kind of his specialty). so in the shower we go! the rest of my day wasn't so bad, i guess. except logan was fussy all day...i wonder if it was all the vomiting going on. hopefully tomorrow will better. as long as there is no vomiting, i'm sure it will be.



this is logan lying on the bathroom floor with vomit all over him. he doesn't seem to be bothered by it. the worst part was that it came out his little nose!

our little boy is growing up

logan went in for his six month check-up: 19lb. 4oz. and 26.5in. what a little chunker!

doggy business

this past weekend we had our first "major" expense for our dog shiloh. we woke up on saturday and he was limping around on his back right leg. now i know that shiloh gets up in the middle of the night and he likes to go explore in the backyard, but i'm not sure what he could have done to hurt his leg. so i replay in my mind the night's events wondering if i accidentally kicked him or rolled over him in my haste to get up with logan. i figure we will just have to assume it was the insane acrobatics he does to get onto our high bed. dan and i call the er vet that is open on the weekends and of course they want to charge us an arm and a leg for shiloh to be seen. since we are living on borrowed money and have none, we decide to wait it out and see if his leg gets better...it doesn't. on sunday it is even worse. shiloh had turned into a three legged hobbit and of course he won't stay off his leg, he still wants us to play ball with him. at this point we feel horribly bad for not taking him to the vet in the first place so dan takes him. the vet can't find anything specific wrong with him but some doggy pain killers and $140 later shiloh seems to be doing better!

speaking of doggies, we found this one in our bedroom after a bath! i think we'll keep him!

skip the beans, on to the pudding...or carrots

this is logan after eating a delicious dinner of peas and carrots. he really did have peas even though it mostly looks like just carrots. he is so cute! he is a pretty good eater and likes a variety of foods. we are still adding new foods every week. he has mastered squash, peas, green beans, carrots, and bananas. the funniest thing is when he blows raspberries (as mentioned earlier). it is inevitably right after he has just taken a mouthful of delicious peas or squash and he sprays them all over. he is lucky he is so adorable because he makes a mess!

raspberries

raspberries- that is what logan loves to do. he blows raspberries all the time. he blows raspberries in the car, he blows raspberries in the bath tub, he blows raspberries during the prayer, he blows raspberries in his jumper, he blows raspberries while he is eating (and makes an awful mess), and he would even blow raspberries in his sleep if he could figure it out! pretty cute (we think).

so much fun

we were at the park one evening and logan decided that he wanted to try out the swings. he loved it! he laughed the whole time and even put his little hands around the chain to hold on tight! the video isn't that great because it is from dan's cell phone, but i love his little laugh at the beginning!

welcome to our blog

dan and i decided to start a blog for our little family. actually, i decided to start a blog and dan thought it was an excellent idea. so here goes. this is our blog. we will add to it as our lives go on and hopefully you will read it and be entertained!

as i am creating our blog i am beginning to realize that the possibilities are almost endless and that this can be very addicting! hopefully i won't spend all my spare time blogging (i've already stayed up way to late writing this), but just enough so that you won't get bored. have fun!
