organizational adivce

lately i have been clipping more coupons and combining them with sale items in the grocery stores and i have found some really great deals.

example:

i got all this food (24 items) for $12.75. (it was going to be $11.25, but the cashier forgot to scan a coupon and i didn't realize it until i was done).
so, since i have been trying to stockpile some food and build up my food storage (which isn't much, trust me) i am trying to find better ways to organize it. i cleaned out my pantry this morning and threw out everything that was expired. then i wrote the expiration date on all the items so they were visible. i cleaned the shelves and organized the food. here is what it looks like now, sorry i didn't take any before pictures.

i have more food stored in the garage and i am afraid i am going to lose track of it all. i was thinking of entering all my items into a spreadsheet so i could keep track of when it expires, but that seems like a lot of work. so, i was wondering what other people's ideas are for organizing and rotating food. i have to admit that i am a little scared to build up my food storage because i don't want the food to go to waste because i don't use it. so i need some of your ideas...

i can't hear you...

either he didn't like the music i was playing or it was too loud!

farmer logan

lagan and i were lucky enough to visit granno and al in st. david last week. al was so nice and showed us around his property. he fed the catfish for us and logan loved seeing them swim up to eat their food. he also let logan drive the tractor (with grandpa's help, of course). here are some cute pictures of the two trying not to get stuck in the mud.

summer fun

we have been busy this summer filling our days with different activities. dan had a friend at work who bought a jeep and wanted him to go four wheeling with her. so we loaded up and went down to gardner canyon. it was great to get out of the heat and logan had fun exploring.

the tucson children's museum had a summer special where admission was just $1 on monday nights and logan was free. so we headed down there for fhe and logan had a blast. it was a great place to just let him loose. he could get into everything and couldn't really hurt anything. there is a firetruck and an actual police motorcycle that he had fun playing on. there is also a little "jungle" room where he was able to climb around.

logan scored some new cowboy boots and he thinks he is so cool when he wears them!

we were also able to go to lake roosevelt with dan's family. we had fun skiing and playing in the water. logan LOVES the water and had fun jumping off the end of the boat. we met up with some friends from our ward and played in the water with them! logan was pretty worn out by the end of the day.

logan's stats

ok, so i don't really have any new "stats" on logan, but he has been pretty busy lately. here are some things that logan is saying and doing lately:

  • climbs up on the coffee table and takes a leap of faith whether there is someone there to catch him or not (so far no major injuries have been sustained)
  • says "choo choo" when he sees or hears a train, or when we talk about a train
  • makes a sound and sign for airplane (he's been doing this for a while now)
  • says "car" (more like "ka") and makes a sound: vroom, vroom
  • tries to say "cup" (sounds a lot like car) when he wants a drink
  • comes and grabs your hand when he wants to go anywhere, which is everywhere!
  • says "shoes" and is obsessed with trying our shoes on

and finally....

  • he no longer takes a pacifier! we successfully (and overall painlessly) have weaned logan from his pacifier. man, he loved that thing. he had to have it all the time, day or night, and would whine when he didn't have it. i was sick of listening to him whine, so decided that it was time to go. we gradually cut the tip of the pacifier so it got shorter and shorter. finally he decided he didn't really want it anymore because it didn't work for him. he has been completely pacifier free for 2 days now! at first he didn't sleep as long for his naps and in the morning, but he is getting better!

last week logan had his first official play date with a new little guy that moved into our ward, braden. logan and braden are about 6 weeks apart and they are so similar...all boy!. braden came over and we had lunch, played in the water outside, and had popsicles. i think it was a fun time for everyone, including the moms!

independence day

we had a swim party and bbq with my family for the 4th of july. then we watched the fire work show on the golf course at la paloma. logan liked the firework show and all the cousins had a great time!
